Property insurance rates have increased significantly or seen hardening markets in Florida and Louisiana, and this week we have two stories relevant to this topic. One looks at the steps legislators are taking to mitigate this trend in Louisiana, and another addresses the use of geo-spatial-based ratings to identify property hazards and more accurately price coverage. On a related note, Georgia is warning homeowners to beware of fraudulent storm chases – good advice for any jurisdiction following a major weather or wildfire event.
