A Message From the Editor

Nearly 100,000 Southern California residents were ordered to evacuate this past weekend as the named Saddleridge Fire burned in and around Los Angeles county. Dozens of homes were destroyed, and with such a high number of residents forced to evacuate, insurers may see a large influx of additional living expense claims as evacuation and relocation costs may be covered under evacuees' homeowners' or renters' policies. Other personal lines news this week covers a series of auto-related stories, including an investigation by the Calif. DOI that found "disturbing" disparities in auto premium discounts, along with data that identified the most dangerous months to drive.
